Safari Afrika is based in South Africa in the Limpopo Province. 24° 6’43.58″S 28°42’12.25″E. The hunting areas range from flat, open thornveld savannah, open grassland and rocky hills, to densely wooded bush. All the land hunted on is privately owned.
Hunting is mainly done from March to October which tends to be cool and dry. Daytime temperatures will vary. Generally speaking a warm jacket would be needed at night, but during the day temperatures can reach 26°C. The summer rains start in late October and end early February.
: Nearly all the land was originally used for cattle ranching. However, game has always been present. There are no inhabitants on the land used.
The lodge is on 400 hectares of land and is situated at the foothills of the Waterberg. They have hunting concessions on neighboring properties as well as at ThabaNkwe near Groblersdal which is a two-and-a-half hour drive away. If required, hunting is also available in Natal and Free State.All of these areas have a low risk of malaria.
Dangerous animals present? They offer the ‘Big Five’, and cheetah and wild dog are the only animals that cannot be hunted. The quota is unlimited, and end-of-season discount hunts are also offered.The minimum hunt is seven days, and no culling or game capture takes place. However, game is introduced in the various areas to increase the gene pool.

The lodge is incorporated into the house as well as two outside chalets. The bar, lounge and dining area are part of the main house. All the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, flush toilets, hot and cold water, constant electricity as well as a back-up generator, and are fully air-conditioned. There is also a swimming pool, a boma, satellite TV, landline telephone as well as mobile phone and free Wi-Fi coverage. A maximum of eight hunters can be accommodated at any one time.
The distance to the closest tar road is two kilometres. No lights can be seen and no vehicles can be heard. The nearest international airport is OR Tambo in Johannesburg, two-and-a-half hours away by vehicle. The closest airfield is Potgietersrus/Mokopane Airport. It is 45minutes from the lodge and is a VFR, tarmac 1800 metre all-weather runway approved by the Civil Aviation Authority. The nearest doctor is also here and can be reached by vehicle within 45 minutes by road.
All meals are inclusive of the price, and all dinners are BBQ/Braai with starters and pudding. Breakfast is full English, and typically, the animals shot provide the meat. All drinks and alcohol, in moderation, are included in the daily rate.
Safari Afrika employs two trackers and two qualified skinners as well as lodge staff.
All clients are met at the airport on arrival and dropped off on departure by one of the professional hunters. This service plus field preparation of trophies is included in the daily rate. The current daily rate for a one-on-one hunt is US$450 per day, and a one-on-two hunt is US$350 per day for plains game.

Trophies are skinned, salted and stored in separate sheds made of brick, hence are very secure and 100% vermin proof. These facilities are well ventilated and have electric lighting. The trophies are dried and stored separately and tags are used for identification. There is also an abattoir with cold room.All the skinners have at least 10 years experience and Lifeform and Trans African taxidermy are recommended, but trophies can be shipped to the client’s own taxidermist of choice.
