I am a Fisheries & Wildlife teacher at the Cuba-Rushford Central School in Upstate New York. In August 2008, I took six students, one graduate student, and one non-hunter to Graham Jones Safaris in South Africa's Limpopo Province.
This 'youth hunter' trip was sponsored, in part, by the Tri-State and the Western & Central New York Chapters of Safari Club International, whom we thank for their support.

NGOs and other aid organizations don’t always venture deep into the bush to reach the people really in need. As a result, these communities are practically left to fend for themselves.
Sable Safaris is situated in the Chiefdom of Chief Mwape in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley, and works in conjunction with the Petuake Local Council. For the last 18 years, we have worked closely with the local community bringing much needed employment, as well as road infrastructure and other resources, to an area which otherwise has been badly neglected.

The income generated through trophy hunting in Zimbabwe contributes greatly to its annual revenue of foreign currency. Leopard is one of the industry’s most sought-after trophies.
At the same time, the leopard is ecologically important as a top predator – and often the apex predator in areas where others, such as lion, have been extirpated. The leopard is thus an important species both economically and ecologically. Management considerations must, therefore, incorporate both factors.
